Anise seeds give baked products and other foods a liquorice flavour. Middle Eastern, Italian, German, Indian, and Mexican cuisines all utilise this spice. In Italian biscotti, sweets, and charcuterie, anise seed is utilised. Its extract is used to flavour alcoholic beverages such as anisette and ouzo.
